DANCING IN THE BUFFER ZONE

Amanda Weil Lecture given at Creative Time Summit, 2013. Read coverage of this talk by Urban Omnibus.

I lived and made work (ethnography, performance, photography, video, writing) in Cyprus in 2009, supported by fellowships from the Charles P. Howland Foundation and National Geographic Glimpse. I investigated the stagnation of post(?)-conflict spaces, trash along the border, the miraculous bi-communal sewer system, leftist communities trying to get together, the geopolitics of cheese, the Lost Donkeys of the Karpaz Peninsula, and made friends who changed my life.

From Aposteriori, NoBody Interdisciplinary Festival at Pallas Theatre, Nicosia, Cyprus, November 2009. Collaborators: Karl Paquemar, Natalie Heller, Frank Chouraqui.
